Welcome to Session 3 Activities Page

Here are some of the activities we may complete within Session 3 of the DEI Leadership Development Programme, however these sessions are led by you, so we may not cover them all

Exercise 1 - Agree Objectives & Why

Objective Setting

Think about authenticity and you communications plan, by thinking ahead you will start to build an authentic and credible narrative

  • Why are you selecting these particular objective?
  • Why are you not selecting the other objectives?
  • Why are these important to (i) you (ii) employees (iii) candidates (iv) clients?

Competitor, Market Activity

Think about what gives you a competitive advantage, what makes you most attractive to talent and new business

  • What do clients expect?
  • What do candidates expect?
  • What can you predict about the market, over the next 5 years?

How does this influence your decision making, or the objectives you have selected?

Exercise 2, Action Planning

Exercise 2 - Action Planning (Hope Map)

    Exercise 2 - Action Planning

Using the above examples as reference only, think about how this will actually work within your organisation?  How are you planning on supporting change / improvements?

    • What are your specific goals?  (What are you selecting for 2022/23 & why)

    • What do you have individually, as a team, and as an organisation to help you achieve these goals?

    • What are the resources in your metaphorical backpack? Resources may include skills, strengths, talents, values, passions, past experience, ongoing training, networks, funding, time availability etc...

    • What are the different 'pathways' to your goals? What are the different ways you can achieve them?

    • What kind of challenges/ obstacles might you face and how can you overcome them individually. as a team, or as an organisation?

    • What can you do to assess your progress on a regular basis?

    • In which situations might you need to boost your hope/ optimism and have a conversation about the nature of change?

Exercise 3 “Growth Mindsets VS Fixed Mindsets"

Before we lock-in, the WHO, WHAT, WHEN & WHY, let's take a moment to explore how our mindsets will determine the success or failure of your efforts (long-term)

As you bring about positive change, which of these questions could be the most important for you to reflect upon:

    • When must I remember learning and growth requires mistakes?
    • How can I reframe challenge as opportunities to grow?
    • How can I stop seeking the approval of others?
    • How can I enjoy the process of learning as much as the outcome?
    • Where should I the use the phrase 'not yet’?
